Stonehenge
This world famous prehistoric monument 2 miles west of the historic town of Amesbury (Britain’s oldest settlement) and 8 miles north of Salisbury. Instantly recognisable this iconic example of English pre history is one of the most famous sites in the world.

Stonehenge today is a collection of stone remains of a ring of standing stones set within large earthworks lying central of the most populated and complex Neolithic and Bronze Age monuments in England.

It has been estimated that Stonehenge was constructed between 3000 BC to 2000 BC.

The Stonehenge visitor centre has recently undergone a radical transformation with the construction a new centre which now includes museum-quality exhibitions, large gift shop and café all house within a new state of the art building.

From the 1st February 2014, it is advisable to book tickets in advance as entrance to Stonehenge will be managed through timed tickets.
