Old Sarum Airfield

Old Sarum Airfield has been in operation for nearly 100 years since its creation just after the WWI started. Not only has it been used to defend the country from its enemies it has also been used as a development ground for the aviation industry. It was used as a Training Depot Station during WWI and the original field has been used continuously for aviation up until the present day. Three of the original hangars still exist from that period and it provides the ideal setting for a visit to the airfield.

It is Wiltshire's only licenced airfield and has many modern and historic aircraft in residence as well as a flying school, parachuting and microlight operations. The Skies Cafe has a good choice of food every day during opening hours and the airfield is also home to the Boscombe Down Aviation Collection which uses its hangar to house many historic aircraft.
