Boscombe Down Aviation Collection

Boscombe Down Aviation Collection was opened by the late Air Commodore Colin Cruickshanks on 1 April 1999 but was behind the "wire" until it moved to Old Sarum and was then opend to the public 1 July 2012. The collection comprises of aircraft, vehicles and artefacts associated historically with Boscombe Down. It is run my its members and staffed by voluteers and has been a registered charity since June 2011.

The collection aims to preserve the past for future generations to enjoy. Military flying began in 1917 at Boscombe Down and still continues today. It started flight testing and experimentation in 1940 and Boscombe Down is still one of the main dedicated military flight test centres for the UK and Western Europe. The aim is to bring history to life and allow visitors to see restorations, replicas and to be able to sit in the powered cockpits.
