Salisbury has new boardwalk

Work for the new boardwalk adjacent to the River Avon has now been completed. The boardwalk which has been constructed with thousands of pieces of recycled plastic timber offers wonderful views of the river and surrounding meadows. Birdwatchers and wildlife enthusiast will get the opportunity to see a variety of different species and habitats.

The boardwalk project was undertaken by Salisbury City Council in partnership with Natural England, the Environment Agency and Wiltshire Wildlife Trust.

The reed bed is also due to be restored in October, along with opening some old water meadow ditches which could also help alleviate flooding in Salisbury in the future.
